DATE AND TIME
May 12, 2018
9:00am - 6:30pm
Parsons School of Design
New York City, NY
DesignxConvergence: Strange Proximities & Unexpected Conversations is a full-day conference organized by the Strategic Design & Management Master’s Program of Parsons School of Design. Our conference brought together people from radically different backgrounds and had the vision of going beyond industry boundaries to address issues that motivate today’s most innovative thinkers. To us, the role of the design strategist is to design for convergence, guiding disparate parts into a shared and impactful trajectory.
The day consisted of keynotes, unpredictable panels, an extensive gallery of student work, and intimate group design sessions.
I was one of the main organizers of the 2018 Strategic Design Conference. My key roles include:
OFFICIAL LIAISON BETWEEN CORE TEAM AND THE MS STRATEGIC DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT
I coordinated updates to the MS SDM department and identified other types of support that the core team needs from professors and department chairs.
MARKETING AND PROMOTION
I planned the social media calendar for the conference and placed the event on external channels such as the NYCxDesign website.
VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT AND MANAGEMENT
I brought and managed 20+ student volunteers who took care of registration, greeting the speakers, managing the live posting, tweeting, and webcasting of the conference on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and supporting the core team in other logistical and operational matters.
I sourced and brought in a visual notetaker who drew notes during the whole event.
